Visitors to Images Art Gallery enjoyed a beautiful evening and beautiful art on Friday, July 15, 2016. Featured was the art of Mary Mayfield. The gallery is at 7320 W. 80th St., Overland Park, Kansas.
The show and sale, which runs through Saturday, August 13, is a retrospective of Mary Mayfield life’s work in pastels and oils. Mary’s work spans over 40 years of concentrated dedication to her craft as a truly fine artist.
“Exhibiting numerous times at Images Art Gallery over the years, we are happy to honor Mary Mayfield through a selection of paintings chosen by her husband and strongest arts supporter, Rod Mayfield.”
“Graduating with distinction from the University of Kansas in 1977 (at age 38), Mary earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting. An accomplished artist, Mary considered herself a colorist. Using her preferred medium of soft pastels, she painted with an abundance of color.”
“Mary was a founding member of the MidAmerica Pastel Society, serving on its first Board of Directors, and later as its President. She served as a member of the Greater Kansas City Art Association and the Images Art Gallery in Overland Park. She often spoke of the joy she received of spending time with her many friends in the art community.”
“Mary’s legacy of colorful, vibrant insight lives on through her life’s work, but we will always miss her.”
