Artists enjoyed beautiful weather for a two-day Plein Air workshop in a park in downtown Overland Park, Kansas. Artist Chris Willey conducted the workshop June 3-4, 2016, which was sponsored by Images Art Gallery.
“Plein air is based on light and weather,” Willey said. “The light changes so quickly that one only has a couple of hours to really work on a painting.”
Plein air can work in a variety of mediums, such as oils, acrylics and pastels, Willey said.
Willey is a retired art professor from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. Willey taught Plein Air as a class for many years and has also taken artists to Great Britain, France and the Netherlands for workshops.
