MidAmerica Pastel Society Art Show Reception

Sixty-three pastel paintings were on display for the MidAmerica Pastel Society Art Show at Images Art Gallery in August 2016. Two hundred art lovers enjoyed the reception on August 19. The art will remain on display until September 17 at the gallery, which is at 7320 W. 80th ST., Overland Park, Kansas.

More than 200 art lovers enjoyed the reception for the MidAmerica Pastel Society (MAPS) Art Show at Images Art Gallery on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.  Sixty-three pastel paintings were in the show, “The Glory of Art.”  The show was part of the Third Friday Local Life activities in Downtown Overland Park. MidAmerica Pastel Society

Thirty-six pastel painting artists participated in the show.  Eight MAPS members were recognized with awards.

First place – Rick Hayek for “January in Galisteo”
Second place – De Munden for “Front Range”
Third place – Loreta Feeback for “Jungle”

The MidAmerica Pastel Society was formed in 1997 by a group of Kansas City area artists to bring together pastel artists throughout the midwest as a group to network; to educate and promote community interest and support for the medium of pastel; to support these artists in their artistic development; to exhibit work as a group and individually; to provide teaching workshops for further development of artists using pastel; and to encourage development of student artists in the pastel medium.

Images Art Gallery is at 7320 W. 80th St., Overland Park, Kansas. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
